The most complicated thing I found when making the formulas for ourĀ kits was thatĀ I wanted them to be as natural as possible. However,Ā IĀ also wanted the colours to look nice and nothing synthetic is going to be as good on skin as a natural dye, and by the end ofĀ my experimenting my workshop looked like a colour bomb had gone off inside.
Here are a few examples of colourings I tried:Ā blueberries (came out blackish), mica powders (I read that they can beĀ bad when inhaled), holiĀ powders (great colour if using natural spicesĀ but I read that corn starch on skin is not great as it stopsĀ your skin from being able to breath),Ā and I also tried using synthetic red/blue dyes and after much research showed me that they contained metals and petroleum which may beĀ harmful to both your skin and the environment.Ā
These are my own experiences, but I would advise anyone reading this to always carry out theirĀ own research.Ā
